Vanguri Foundation of America, Inc (VFA) was founded and incorporated in 1994 as a Public Corporation in the State of Texas and received approval from IRS as a 501 (c)(3) non-profit public charitable corporation. Our Federal TX ID is 76-0444238 and VFA is permitted to seek donations which are tax-deductible per IRS regulations. The primary objectives of VFA are to promote Telugu language, literature and creative writing and to conduct various charitable activities per the following Mission Statement.
MISSION STATEMENT
- To create a literary forum to encourage creative literary activity, recognize authors and publish their work, to organize literary symposiums and to foster exchange of ideas.
- To promote performing arts, classical music, music creation, drama and to create a forum for conferences for exchange of ideas in similar activities.
- To provide scholarships to deserving students in various educational institutions.
- To assist in improving infrastructure facilities at educational institutions.
- To provide all the services as a non-profit organization subject to all governmental regulations.
- To help with humanitarian and charitable projects around the world.
- To provide support for education, food, study material, uniform, surgical corrections & medicines for poor, physically disadvantaged children.
Our Modest Activities & Accomplishments to date
The following is a brief list of some of the literary and charitable activities of VFA since 1995.
- Conducts Annual Creative Writing contests on the occasion of the Telugu New Year (Ugadi) and successfully completed 31 such contests as of March 2026.
- Conducts bi-annual America Telugu Literary Symposiums of America in various cities across USA and successfully completed 14 Literary Conferences beginning in Atlanta in 1998 followed by Chicago, Detroit, New Jersey, Houston, San Jose, Indianapolis, Orlando, Toronto, Washington D.C and Milpitas, CA.
- Conducts bi-annual World Telugu Literary Symposiums and successfully completed 9 Worldwide Telugu Literary Conferences beginning in Hyderabad in 2007 followed by Houston, London, Singapore, Melbourne, Johannesburg, Auckland (New Zealand) and Doha, Qatar.
- Conducts monthly Telugu literary programs in Hyderabad in the name of Nela Nelaa Telugu Vennela since 2006 and completed about 185 monthly literary programs as of March 2026.
- Started publishing Telugu books in USA in 1996 with the first of its kind "An Anthology of Short Stories by Telugu Authors of America'- Volume 1. Completed 137 publications as of March 2026 including 18 volumes of the Anthology. VFA has published the Telugu short stories and poetry by many Diaspora writers from USA and other countries such as Canada, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Qatar and India. In addition, Proceedings of the Conference are also published for most of the Literary Symposiums.
- VFA initiated its humanitarian charity programs in the year 2000 with nationwide fund-raising events in USA called "Ghantasala Araadhanotsvaalu" for the benefit of Vegesna Foundation, Hyderabad which offers complete rehabilitation for poor, physically and mentally disadvantaged children of India. VFA's services have been extended to many other causes such as the construction of an Oxygen plant during Covid time in Vijayawada, water treatment plants in two villages to provide clean drinking water, construction of a state-of-the-art indoor sports stadium at JNTU, Kakinada, complete remodeling of the historic quadrangle hall, entry gate and beds for girl's hostel in P.R. College, Kakinada etc. VFA is proud to have helped raise over US$20 million for various charitable causes and helped many institutions and individuals realize their philanthropic goals.
- VFA has always worked with local organizations and volunteers to conduct its worldwide activities. VFA does not have any corpus fund, and its activities are funded by generous donor and supporters in USA, India and worldwide.
